Red Square Kawasaki ZX10R Masters Cup – 9 Aug 2014

| East London welcomed the Extreme Festival group with open arms on 19 July and it was a great day for participants and spectators alike! Thank you for all of the hospitality and great support. Some oil on the track threatened to hamper the race of the bikes, but with a few changes all ended well. |
| After the successful Superpole at Red Star Raceway the Red Square Kawasaki ZX10 Masters riders opted to draw starting numbers from a hat. With Jaco Gous (43) in pole it was bound to be a great race. Stewart McLeod (46) and Graeme van Breda (41) had other plans and they pulled away from the rest of the pack at lightning speed and had a race of their own, passing each other no less than 5 times a lap. Steward came first in both races and bagged another 50 points increasing his lead in Class A to 245 points for the year, with Graeme van Breda making life harder for Stewart at every race, taking second place. Kyle, now a familiar player with the frontrunners, snatched the 3rd place in Class A. The Class A riders are also leading the overall standings in the same order, Stewart 1st; Graeme 2nd and Kyle in 3rd place. |
| Class B was dominated by no one else but the East London hometown favourite Robbie Breakspear (88) who can cruise around the track with his eyes closed. The bad luck he had at the first few races of the year now long forgotten and the 50 points he earned for the day, pushed him up to 4th spot in the Class B group. Brian Bontekoning (16) took second place in Class B helping him to shrink the point’s gap between him and Gavin Lightfoot to only 21 for the overall 1st position in Class B for the year. Johan le Roux (44) took the third place right from underneath the nose of Raymond Keel (33). |

| For now the action is moving back to Gauteng and none other than the home of Extreme Festival, Zwartkops Race Track on 9 August. Zwartkops is always action filled with close racing and exciting crowds. The best news ever for all the riders this month is the selling of Kyalami Race Track to Toby Venter. And what great news for all involved in motorsport in South Africa…..Kyalami is not going to become part of the concrete jungle and will remain a track for the use of all motorsport enthusiasts. The Red Square Kawasaki Zx10 Masters Cup Club is behind you Mr Venter, thank you for saving one of the few tracks in the country. |
