Pilot, Andrew Blackwood-Murray will be flying the Nashua sponsored aircraft in an Aerobatic Display by at the Extreme Festival this coming weekend.
Andrew Blackwood-Murray is a Captain at South African Airways on the Boeing 737. He has a total of 14 thousand hours of flying experience and been a pilot for 26 years. He is an ex Impala pilot from the SA Air Force having learnt to fly on the Harvard.
Andrew currently fly’s the Harvard and Pitts Special. Whilst at SAA, he has flown the Boeing 747 & 767 and the Airbus 340. The aircraft will be flying on Saturday is the Czechoslovakian Zlin 50L, a fully aerobatic aircraft capable of sustaining plus or minus 9 g’s (in other words, 8 times the gravitational pull of the earth). The plane only weighs 570kg and is powered by a 6 cylinder 260hp Lycoming engine.
