David Piper/Tony Magg’s Ferrari GTO 1963 Nine Hours. This is a 45-minute endurance race with a 3-minute compulsory pitstop, two-driver race, reminiscent of the great South African 9 Hours of the late 1950s featuring racing sports and GT cars.
Heading the 25-car field for this event will be the Shelby Daytonas of James Temple and Trans Africa Racing, with no less than four Ford GT40s and three Cobras vying for line honours.
One of the GT40s has come from the UK, owned by Maserati or Steve Hart. Three of the entries will be the American NASCAR races, which will have to be driven with great care to preserve their brakes. The Chevy Bel-Air, Mustangs, Camaros with Dutch, and UK pilots, and never discount the little incredible Chevron B8s that put up such an incredible performance at Kyalami, plus a real dark horse, the Ginetta of Josh and Jake Dovey. There will be two Datsun 240Zs of Pantazis and Carel Pienaar, Porsche 911s of Johan de Bruyn, and Little Giants of GSM darts, Marauders, Alfas, and MGBs.
