|
| A 1967 Lola T70 Coupe which has a significant connection with South Africa in the sixties will be racing in the South African Tourist Trophy. |
| This car is a tribute to the 1967 Lola Austin Martin which was raced by John Surtees, Mike de Udy and Peter de Klerk at Le Mans, SPA and Nurburgring. The Lola was converted to a Ford engine and bought by Paul Hawkins, and entered for the 1967 9 Hours with John Love and where it finished second overall. This car in the hands of Hawkins won the Cape Town 3 hours, LM (Maputo) 3 Hours and finished second in the Hesketh 3 Hours. At the end of 1967 Hawkins sold the car to Mike de Udy and the car was converted to a 5 litre Chev, to comply with the 1968 Group 4 Regulations. Mike de Udy competed with this car in the 1968 9 Hours and Springbok Series. |
