Dezzi Raceway – 4th of June 2016 LITTLE Giants and Legends U2
For those who could afford the time and money to go to Dezzi it was a good weekend.
Cuan Helen found and amazing turn of speed in his Alfa GT, qualifying on pole, winning the first heat and then incurring a 45 second penalty in heat two.
This gave Francesco Lombardi a win in the second heat in the immaculately prepared Alfa. Mike O’Sullivan took over the TAR BMW and elevated car #300 to the winners circle – the car looked magnificent in the capable hands of Mike.
Roger Houston (first time at Dezzi) in the beautifully prepared Alfa Guilia was the final podium finisher for U2. He was however followed home by off-road Motor X rider Gerald Campher in the yellow GT. Final placing in U2 went to the KZN Renault Gordini of Peter Ter Wolbeck.
- Franscesco Lombardi took LITTLE Giants honours with the Alfa followed by the off song Volvo P1800 of Vic Campher. This was for class W.
- In class G the win went to Cllive Winterstein in the Porsche 356A with Wynand du Plessis second in the MGB GT and then Greg Ter Wolbeck in the R10.
Poor Chris Carlisle-Kitz’s Corsair ran bearings early in the day.
- In the Sports & GT class Ishmael Baloyi GSM Dart finished ahead of the D-Type Jaguar of Keith van Heerden.
- Driver of the Day: Francesco Lombardi who is now promoted to U2 in the Alfa GT.
- Diggit trophy of the day: Andy Gossman in the Datsun who started the first heat in slicks. (a big NO, NO in Legends) then bumped a couple of cars in the process, got himself disqualified and then only managed third in the second heat. Poor Andy.
Next race meeting: 2nd of July – Phakisa.
Meeting at Duimpies – Wed 6 July.
