Legends of the 9 Hour return to Zwartkops

A double-header extravaganza!

Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled day of historic motorsport! On 11 July 11, Zwartkops Raceway will play host to a pivotal championship round for the Legends of the 9 Hour. This isn’t just another race day, it’s a massive celebration of racing heritage that you won’t want to miss. The track will be alive with the roar of iconic machines. Here is a glimpse of what to expect:

International Sports Prototypes Showdown: The International Sports Racing Prototypes class is set for a thriller. Jonathan du Toit has been hard at work rebuilding his legendary Chevron B8, and he’s ready to lock horns with the monstrous V8s. Watch for Larry Wilford’s powerful Lola against Mark du Toit’s sleek Lola T70 Spyder.

Le Mans Sports & GT Battle: Championship leader James Temple will be piloting his Shelby Daytona, with support from Durk Venter. However, the competition is fierce, with Marc Miller pushing hard in the red Daytona and Peter Bailey looking to strike in the iconic blue Ford GT40.

Legend V8’s: The field is packed with talent, including Ben Morgenrood (Mustang), Seef Fourie (Cougar), and James Temple in the Capri. Keep a close eye on the du Toit brothers and Jonathan Needham, who are all hungry to challenge the frontrunners.

Little Giants: The crowd-favourite “Little Giants” category will feature a packed grid of Alfas, Minis, Escorts, and beloved South African motoring icons, ensuring close, competitive racing throughout the field.

Special Guest: We are thrilled to feature some truly special entries this year. Look out for Rob Beaumont in his incredible Chev Can-Am and his Ford Escort. Plus, we’re taking a trip down memory lane with the return of the legendary “Streepie” Alfa Giulietta and Shaun’s Cabrita, cars that defined the golden era of the old Grand Central and early Kyalami 9 Hour races.

Join us and experience the sights, sounds, and history of these legendary machines as they fight for championship glory. It promises to be a day defined by passion, speed, and unforgettable automotive history.

July 25 & 26: Zwartkops Top of the Hill

25 July – Historic and classic cars

Following our championship round, we invite you to join us for the Top of the Hill weekend, a hill-climbing spectacular designed for every motorsport enthusiast.

Saturday, 25 July, is dedicated to the legends of yesteryear, featuring a day of Historic and Classic car action. We are proud to confirm that this day will be livestreamed worldwide, allowing fans everywhere to experience the magic of Zwartkops.

Witness the incredible Gunston Chevron B19, famously campaigned by Franco Scribante. We will be featuring the legendary, fire-breathing V8 monster formerly driven by the late, great Willie Hepburn, now in the hands of Seef Fourie.

The “Little Giants”, from the humble Austin A35’s Metropolitans and Hillman Imps, we are celebrating the forgotten names of the past. These were not just cars; they were the dreams and aspirations of the day, and they remain icons of our rich racing history.

See you at Zwartkops!
