| Once again this events result came right down to the wire. This year it was Rui Campos (who was narrowly beaten last year) in Craig Cummings red Lola T70 Spyder. He was seriously challenged all the way by Ross Lazarus in his GT40, followed closely by Peter Lindenberg in the blue Daytona. |
| The race started off in a big way when first Jonathan du Toit lead, (T70 Spyder) then Mike Briggs (red Daytona) who put up a huge effort and got in front. |

| Peter L was close followed then Ross, Rui, Jonathan, Olivier, Warren Lombard (Cobra)… then it all changed… the red Daytona blew up, Oliver stopped with loose body work, Jonathan – the Lola suspension broke all in the space of a few laps. |

Terry Wilford in the blue Daytona a backup car for Sarel spun on the Cobras oil and retired the car. So the upfront battle was left to Rui, Ross, Peter, Marc Lauth (blue Lola T70 Coupe). It was only with three laps to go that Rui got in front of Ross and took the flag with Peters Daytona third. |
| The race results reflect the depth and the dynamics of the field of the 35 starters of this major South African event. |
| Chris Clarke won class C in the Morgan from the Hinckley/van Niekerk jnr Cobra, Dennis Mc Beath – his usual self taking class D and in class E the father and son team in the famous Lucky Strike Rowlings Mustang coupe. |
