It all started in America 1960’S with V8 sports cars. McLaren’s, Lolas, Porsche 917’s to name a few more. These were fearsome brutes with very little in terms of mechanical driving aids. The drivers were brave and much more daring than the contempry Formula One drivers.

At the “Passion,” the legend of these cars lives on. We have the big Lola T70s, Porsche 917 and from Europe the McLaren Mk5 of Kennet Persson.

Mclaren the name lives on

McLaren is a household name today through Formula One. McLaren’s roots lie in the mid-1960s when Bruce McLaren decided to build sports racing cars for the American Can-AM series. Bruce and his cars were invincible however tragedy struck in 1970 when Bruce was killed in a McLaren M8 testing at Goodwood. It was a massive blow to world racing however the mighty McLaren name lives on today at Zwartkops.
