Final Instructions Pit Allocations Race Programme

Round 2 of the Midas Historic Tour at Zwartkops on Saturday 12th of April 2014.

The Midas Historic Tour returns to Zwartkops for round two of the Series. With 200 entries on the cards spread over eleven categories there will be plenty of action in a 23 race program of events.
 
Hennie Groenewald will be the big challenge in the SKF Legend Production Car in the Ford Comet. He will face tough competition from the Mustangs of Franco Scribante and Ferdi van Niekerk Junior. The Fords will however not have an easy life from the three Chev’s – Nova Jonathan du Toit and brother Mark du Toit Smokey Yunic Chevelle and the big Chev Biscayne. The ZB cars of MJ Meiring Ford Fairlane, Alan Poulter Volvo 122 and a brace of very fast Alfa’s, Lotus Cortina and a BMW.

A huge variety of Sports & GT cars of the sixties and early seventies will include the Genie Lola T70, Colin Frost and Peter Bailey Porsche 917’s, Chevron B8 of Jonathan du Toit and a Chevron B19.
In the Pre-1968 Trans Africa Racing Le Mans Sports Sebring category Ross Lazarus could be in for a win against the Lola T70 Spyder of Mark du Toit and Peter Lindenberg & Jonathan’s Daytona’s, the Cobras of Warren Lombaard and Gary Swan, the black Chevron B8 and a truly impressive Lotus Elan 26R of Josh Dovey.
In true 9 Hour fashion the Sports & GT cars will have some Production GT cars such as the SP Racing Camaro of Carel Pienaar and Willie Hepburn Ford Capri.
The Marlboro Crane Hire Pre-1977 Historic Saloons will as usual have a big field headed by the big orange Camaro of Andre Diedericks, Anton Raaths in his Mazda Coupe and Mike Smidt in his Trans-Am Capri.

Then we have the “Little Giants” Legends, this is an amazing category with the real giant killers of the sixties production cars, GT cars and sports cars – and they all want to win! Alfa Ti, Alfa Guilia, Mini Austin A35 of Stuart Greig, GSM Dart of Chad ten Doeschate, Ford Anglia of Ismael Baloyi, Mini Marcos of Shaun Cabrita and the diminutive BMW 700 of Paul Perreira.
Historic Single Seaters and Investchem Formula Ford Kent have the single seater action with icon Fords of the Investchem sponsored group of Ian Schofield, Andrew Schofield, Andreas Petrou and young Donny Lamola. Historic Single Seaters have the MG Special "Spider" of Heyns Stead, Ford Merlyn MK25 of Patrick Dunseith and the Ford van Diemen RF75 of Steve Crook.
Sabela Marque Cars will have a handicap race event with a field of Porsche, Alfa, MG, Renault, Ford and Datsun. Heading the field is Kevin Taylor and Andre Reyneke, old stalwart and no stranger to the world of motorsport is Willie Grobler at 84 years in his 1962 Lotus 23.

The Sabat Lotus Challenge have a full field of very fast open cars, heading the field is Klippies Krige in his Lotus Replica 7 Plus, he will be chased by Anton Muller and the contingent of class B Lotuses of Jeff Gable, James Forbes, Fred Kruger, Rob Gearing and Neil de Later. Over 35 Lotus entries on the grid.
The day will end with the one hour endurance event of the Pre-1984 Sports & GT and Pre-1977 Historic Saloon cars – Day / Night Challenge that will end close to 19h00. We will race in the evening time with cars such as the Porsche 911 RS of Evert Botha, Kobus Brits and the production cars of a mixed field of Datsun’s, Renault, Alfa’s and MG’s.
Racing starts at 10h30, tickets are available at the gate on the day for R60 per adult, R40 per student and children under 12 free. As usual there will be special catering for a kiddies play park, supersport events on screen at Aces Café and the Mini Moke transport –rides from and to the pits and car ports.
