Inland Championship

The first round of the 2016 Inland Championship looks set to launch Regional racing into a whole new era. With a new PR team now driving the promotions and media coverage, as well as a refreshing TV package being secured, the newly launched tag line of ‘Real People, Real Racing’   has gained much interest.

The group is arguably the most diverse in Motorsport right now.

Big Boss Auto Super Saloons

A new draw card to the ranks will be the addition of the popular Bridgestone BMW Club Racing Series who have moved up to regional racing level this year. Close on thirty cars are expected for the first race of the season including big karting names Kas Naicker and Sebastian Lanzetti, and oval veteran Andy Smith.

Growing from strength to strength is the Big Boss Auto Super Saloons. The GTA class has seen a rejuvenation in numbers after their first season at Regional level last year. Apart from the stalwarts of the series some new talents such as Devin Robertson, Seef Fourie Junior and Amos Cockerham Junior. Some GTA cars and drivers we haven’t seen for a while will also be back.

The newly formed classes for the rest of the field (GT2 to GT5) cater for various monocoque or space frame vehicles sporting a variety of different power plants including the much loved rotary engine cars.

Yokohama Modified Production Cars

The ever popular Liqui Moly INEX Legends Championship are certainly expected to produce 4-car wide overtaking antics that they became so well known for last season. With four classes catering for drivers aged from twelve to eighty years old the series is expected to entice young and old talent to the track with its own unique brand of racing.

The Yokohama Modified Production Cars are expected to pick up their top form from last season. Catering for front wheel drive cars in various states of tune with four classes for different engine varieties, competitors are allowed to do what they want within their budget to race as fast as they can.

AutOBarn/Northern Bolt and Tool SuperHatch

AutOBarn/Northern Bolt and Tool SuperHatch

The Autobarn/Northern Bolt & Tool Superhatch series is expected to put on a show in this super competitive series for fairly standard hatch back vehicles. After round 1 Class B’s Stuart Konig (Northern Bolt & Tool Peugeot 207) is leading the overall championship and he will be chased down by the rest of the class B field which makes up 50% of this very competitive category.

Trofeo Challenge and Midvaal Historic Car Club will now be racing as one unit this year. Both categories boast exciting racing while being the life of the camaraderie off the circuit. Ralph Kernes in his Alfetta will be out to defend his Trofeo overall title, while Henry Vos will do battle in his trusty Datsun GX to fight for Midvaal Historics overall honours again.

An underrated highlight too is the 250 Superkarts. With speeds well over 200 km/h and a possible sub-minute lap time, these feisty pocket rockets beggar belief. Of the open wheel variety, crowds will also get to enjoy the antics of Formula Monoposto with a diverse array of single seaters, and Formula Vee who are the national category of the day. Silver Cup will also hope to boost their numbers for this season in a category that offers true ‘grass roots’ racing.

Tickets are R80 for adults, R60 for students while kids under 12 get in for free.
